Tom's Story

Tom started riding when he was four years old, with his Dad, Steve Ebdon, they

travelled all over Ontario racing. Tom has been a winner since he was a child. You can

see Tom with his first trophy at the first-ever race in his career below. He was 1 week

away from turn 6 in this picture! After that, it was uphill. Tom kept competing until they

closed the Canadian series in 2017, from there, he and his family had to make the

tough decision of what they wanted to do next to help fulfill Tom's dreams and his

natural potential. Tom went on to win over 50 1st to 3rd place overall finishes between

2013 and 2017. Tom had won 3 Canadian championships as well. In 2018 the Ebdon

family started to travel to the States to compete in the AMA series.

In 2018 Tom was 4th overall in the Youth All-Star at Red Bud, Tom found the

completion tough but he continued to push through and try his hardest.

In 2019 Tom had broken his wrist right at the beginning of the pre-season training and

was not able to compete. In 2020 tragedy struck the entire world and the virus known

as COVID-19 took over and racing was driven to a halt. In 2021, racing was slowly

and safely coming back. Tom, being a Canadian, made it a challenge, his mom, Denise, and his Dad were wrestling with thoughts on how to get their son back to what he loved. In 2020, they applied for a visa and fought for nine strenuous months, then, finally, in January 2021, Tom was granted a visa thanks to his parents' hard work and help from sponsors. From there, it was game on! In 2021, Tom had Moto wins in Texas and New York in Youth All-Star. 2022 came up fast; Tom was given the opportunity to ride and train by Jon Ford at his facility in Texas. After getting 2nd overall in Texas in 450B, Tom went back to keep training and sadly broke his left hip. Tom had a painful recovery that took 2 months before he could ride again. He was able to race the last four rounds of the season; he gained three overall wins and eight moto wins to finish the season strong. Little did everyone know that 2023 was Tom's season, and they needed to watch out. Gaterback: College 16-24 overall winner, Underground MX: College 16-24 overall winner, Highpoint: College 16-24 overall winner, Ironman: 450A overall winner, Sunset Ridge: College 16-24 and 450A overall winner, Buds Creek: College 16-24 and 450A overall winner, Briar Cliff: College 16-24 and 450A overall winner, Loretta Lynns: College 16-24 and 450A overall winner. He also attended some local races in 2023 as well. Tom had accumulated over 20 moto wins that season, he was on fire. Tom ended the season as one of the Amateur Rider of the Year nominees; he won the 450A national championship and the College 16-24 national championship. In February of 2024, Tom was training to have another fantastic season when he broke his ankle, more specifically, his tibia, fibula, and his talus bone, this completely ended his 2024 season before it even started. Tom was immediately driven to the hospital to get a soft cast, then to the Tallahassee airport to fly home so he was able to get surgery. Tom was not able to put weight on his left ankle for 5 months, at the 7-month mark, he was able to slowly come back and ride. His ankle still affects and pains him to this day and for the foreseeable future. As of January 2025, Tom is training for his comeback at the Decker Training facility in Fountain, Florida. Tom is already making waves in his practice and training on and off the track. Tom is ready to have a season of a lifetime with the help of all his sponsors, Mom and Dad. Keep up to date with how Tom is doing under the 'Update' tab! So, get ready to ride and feel the thrill of racing!
